DC vs RCB WPL 2024:The captain of Delhi Capitals, Meg Lanning, wins the coin toss and chooses to bat against RCB.

In the upcoming league encounter of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024, Delhi Capitals, currently leading the table, are set to face Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Despite their spirits remaining high, the team is gearing up for this crucial match following a closely contested 1-run loss to UP Warriorz in their recent fixture.

The conclusion of the match marked the conclusion of the four-game winning streak for the franchise jointly owned by JSW and GMR. UP Warriorz secured a thrilling one-run triumph at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi last Friday.

RCB didn’t have an easy start in Delhi against the Giants. But, even with that tough beginning, they now have six points in the standings. They’ve got two more matches to play, so there’s a chance they could end up with ten points. This matters because the UP Warriorz, who are just below RCB, can only get a maximum of eight points. So, how well RCB does in the remaining matches will decide where they stand in the competition.

Reviewing the team’s recent close defeat to UP Warriorz, Jonathan Batty, the head coach of Delhi Capitals, expressed his disappointment over letting the victory slip away. However, he underscored the significance of acknowledging the team’s overall commendable performance, highlighting the excellence in bowling, fantastic fielding, and mostly solid batting. Batty mentioned engaging in constructive post-match discussions immediately after the game and continuing them during breakfast the following morning.

“We need to recover from our previous match’s performance, rediscover our strengths, regain the form we once had, and approach the upcoming game with determination,” he emphasized.

In the meantime, RCB has secured victory in three matches and faced defeat in three out of their six games to date, placing them in the third position on the points table.

Discussing the upcoming match against RCB, the English player expressed admiration, stating, “RCB boasts an impressive lineup with outstanding players. Our team achieved a positive outcome against them earlier in the tournament in Bangalore. As they visit our home ground, we aim to leverage our strengths and steer the game in our favor.”
